April A to Z Blogging Challenge Day 1...Today's Blog Brought to You by the Letter "A"

No, today's letter is not "E"..."A" is for April Fool's Day pranks.  This blog is usually for crafts, photography, and writing, but today I'll deviate from that to show you what my kids had to look forward to today.

I love pranking my kids, especially my 13-year-old girl, who is quite gullible and good-natured.  I once scraped the frosting out of an Oreo and replaced it with toothpaste and she gobbled it up and asked for another.  She is forever trying to convince me that she did it to be polite.  Yeah, right!

When the kids got home from school, I told them there was a pan of "brownies" on the stove.  When they lifted the foil, they found "brown E's" instead.  I made a pan of brownies too, so it smelled like chocolate in the house, there was a chocolaty bowl in the sink, and a brownie mix box in the trash, so the stage was set.  I gave them a real brownie after the joke, but my son decided to chew on a paper "E" for a while.  Just to show me.

When my 8-year-old son entered his room, I not only had the balloons attached to his ceiling fan, I put untied balloons in his doorjamb so when he opened the door, they deflated and propelled across the room.  He got a little upset.  I tried to be mild with him, but he has special needs and sometimes you can't tell what will set him off.

The next prank was to blow up some balloons and put them in my daughters' pillows in place of their pillows.  Then I set their beds back the way they left them.  My 11-year-old didn't appreciate it much and put the balloons in my bed and under my laptop after she discovered them.

Next prank was a fake "poo" on the stool.  I wet and cut up and molded an empty toilet paper roll and set it on the seat.  Then my dumb cats came along and knocked it in the toilet!  So, I had to fish it out and make a new one.  I also used a cotton swab to apply some blue food coloring to the metal screen on the underneath of the faucet.  Then I waited for someone to use the bathroom.  Kid #2 came home and didn't go in the bathroom.  Kid #3 came home from school and didn't use the potty.  Kid #1 is paranoid about pranks, so she came home and checked the house.  I heard from the bathroom, "ew, gross, mom!"  She left it there for her sister to find.  But, when she had to use the facilities, she begged me to let her use my bathroom.  I told her she could just remove the poo and put it back when she was done.  When she came out, she looked at me in awe and said, "how in the world did you change the water to blue?"  Ha! Ha!  I told her I am just good like that.  Her sister went into the bathroom and was not amused.  Their brother, however, thought it was great and kept poking it.  Kid #2 asked me to remove it so she could go because even though she knew it was fake, she didn't want to touch it.

Dinner was fun with just a little bit of food coloring.  Tasted great and looked fun on a plate!

I'm already planning pranks for next year!  Got a whole Pinterest board dedicated to it!
